Day 6

This morning was nice and sunny. We got up and had breakfast on the terrace and then took some photos before leaving. Today we were moving to the central Serengeti. Again we were driven back to the footbridge, so we could load our bags back into our safari car.

There was still plenty of water around but not as bad as when we arrived.

On our game drive this morning, we saw giraffe, hippo, warthog families and crocodile, among other things.

Then just before we stopped for lunch Filex spotted a leopard in a tree. A great end to our morning.

We stopped for lunch at the Visitors Centre. The lunch boxes were pretty good. Here we saw plenty of rock hyrax as we ate. Some were very fat and had clearly been fed by tourists. We also saw some dwarf mongoose.

This afternoon’s sightings included dikdiks, warthogs wallowing in the mud, and male impala fighting.

About 4pm Filex drove us to KubuKubu Lodge located up on a hill overlooking the Serengeti plains. The lodge and the view were amazing. We were greeted with a glass of champagne and given an introductory talk on the terrace......wonderful. We then went to our rooms and met up a short time later by the pool for G&T’s and more champagne (drinks were included at this lodge!!)

Later we adjourned to the bar terrace for pre-dinner drinks and snacks, very indulgent. Dinner later was excelllent and after one last drink we retired to bed.
