Getting Ready For Our Return To Tanzania on 2nd May 2018

So “Hello” again to everyone who has read our Tanzanian blogs before and “Welcome” to those who are reading for the first time.

Firstly I want to say a huge thank you to all of you who have supported us in our fundraising over the last year, we couldn’t help all these children and teachers in Tanzania without you.

With our return to Tanzania now imminent I thought it was about time to post a little about our up and coming trip and our plans for this years projects.

So our aims for this trip is to extend the School Computer Loan projects that we set up last year and also to set up some new ones. I will explain more in the blog as we visit each school.

This year our trip will be a little different to those of previous years as Pete and I are not travelling alone, we will be accompanied by our son and daughter and their partners. For those of you who do not know us personally that is Emma and her boyfriend Robbie, and Simon and his girlfriend Caf. Of the 4 of them only Emma has been Tanzania before and that was 6 years ago so we are looking forward to showing them around.

Because this is a family trip we will be incorporating some “holiday time” with our project work which will hopefully lead to a great trip for everyone. So for anyone who has not been to Tanzania, this blog will hopefully give you a little taste of some of what Tanzania has to offer, as well as an update on how the money you have helped us raise, is spent.

Our basic itinerary for the trip is as follows

May 2nd - Fly from Bristol to Kilimanjaro via Amsterdam. Arriving in Kilimanjaro in the evening and staying here overnight.
May 3rd - Fly from Kilimanjaro to Mwanza, arriving around midday. Hope to visit some schools with staff from ACTT
May 4th - More school visits in Mwanza.
May 5th - Depart on a 5 night safari in the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater ending up in Moshi.
May 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th - Safari
May 10th - finish Safari and will be dropped at TemboTamu B&B in Moshi which will be our home for the rest of the trip
May 11th onwards - Moshi for school visits, work with ACTT and some sight seeing.
May 16th - Emma, Robbie, Si and Caf return to UK
May 18th - Pete returns to UK
May 23rd - Hilary returns to UK

I will try and update the blog as we go although it may be difficult for the first week as WiFi and internet may be limited, and so if I don't manage it I will catch up with posts once we are in Moshi. I will email you all as and when I post updates.

So I hope you will enjoy following our trip and seeing how the money you helped us raise is being spent.
